Social & PR Account Director

Feref is a creative agency for a connected world. We provide strategic and creative direction to our clients' brands and work across all media channels and disciplines. The agency's clients include Disney, Lucasfilm, Paramount, Amazon, Hasbro, Sony, Universal and Warner Bros and the UK Government’s GREAT campaign.

The Role

This is a key leadership role for an Account Director to lead the Social & PR teams with a good strategic and commercially-focused approach. The Account Director's key responsibility is to lead all PR & Social accounts and drive growth for a portfolio of clients across entertainment and FMCG brands – while ensuring revenue targets are achieved. They will also support the acquisition of new clients and lead the team in pursuit of client management excellence.

Responsibilities:

Revenue:

  • Manage overall pipeline for Social & PR - maintaining a long term view of the departments and resource needs
  • Identify and drive business growth within client portfolio through proactive planning
  • Responsible for delivering forecasted revenue for clients
  • Drive profitability across all accounts; monitor profitability, forecasting and invoicing for the team, providing regular reports to the Senior Account Director /Managing Director
  • Prepare and review cost estimates, ensuring accuracy and profitability
  • Understand and manage investment of resource vs. client budget, ensure gross profit is maximised on all campaigns
  • Review all quotes from within Social & PR team before they are sent to the Group Account Director for final approval

Client Management

  • Lead effective and efficient integrated interaction within agency to deliver client success
  • Act as primary contact for key clients, while building deep and trusted relationships
  • Lead integrated Social & PR campaigns from big budget to small scale, quick turnaround projects whilst ensuring profitability and high perceived value
  • Have a strong understanding of each client’s business so you are able to advise clients at a strategic level on how to use PR & Social to meet their objectives
  • Ensure the clients understand the agency’s structure and business model and to perceive the agency as a valued partner
  • Ensure you are actively cross-selling capabilities within the business
  • Act as point of escalation for junior members of the team
  • Write proposals and demonstrate ability to sell in the work
  • Work with the Managing Partner, Head of Integrated Planning and Group Account Director to generate new accounts and lead creds presentations and pitches
  • Stay at the forefront of new trends and technologies, actively researching the latest in social, PR and relevant industries.

Management & Mentoring

  • Directly manage a team of Senior Account Managers and Account Managers and support the management of their reports
  • Demonstrate leadership to the team, implementing personal development schemes, ensuring the agency has the correct skill levels to service and develop accounts
  • Monitor processes to ensure the team is working effectively and clients are receiving best in class service
  • Ensure the strategic and creative excellence of team outputs in response to client briefs
  • Maximise team output and efficiencies through co-ordinating team workflow, with responsibility for all team work in progress. Effectively delegate to team members and manage team workload.
  • Foster positive internal culture by working closely with all other departments to develop and share knowledge
  • Train and mentor team members in account handling skills including selling, managing client relationships, understanding and managing revenue, presentation and document writing
  • Lead by example, from the way you conduct yourself as a senior member of staff, to the quality of the work you produce.
  • Contribute to the generation of ideas, and the assessment of those ideas
  • Ensure team is motivated, skilled and focused on maximising the return from client relationships
  • Conduct team member appraisals and set personnel goals and measure progress
  • Raise agency awareness, striving for stand-out against agency competition

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 6 years' agency experience in a social and publicity role. Solid understanding of the PR and social processes across integrated campaigns; digital experience is mandatory
  • Experience and understanding of the entertainment/film industry
  • Experience leading social media campaigns from strategy to execution within a marketing/ digital/PR/social media agency
  • Experience in dealing with the media and influencer and outreach programmes
  • Experience in junket/talent management and crisis management
  • Proven track record in having strong journalist relationships and generating coverage
  • Experience in developing social strategic responses including channel planning and platform recommendations
  • Previous management of a social & PR team
  • In depth knowledge of social platforms including paid media and utilising performance tools
  • A proven, strong leader with gravitas
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of social and platforms
  • Proctive business development skills; finding new opportunities within existing areas of the business as well as forging new relationships to grow
  • Strategic thinking and forward planning of client work
  • Confident presenter - being able to present to a range of audiences and sizes with passion
  • Tact, diplomacy, maturity in relating and interacting with people at all levels
  • Strong ability to negotiate and demonstrate flexibility on the job
  • Ability to communicate in a concise and professional manner whether in a verbal, written or visual context
  • Demonstrate and execute keen commercial judgment and understanding of Profit & Loss
  • Demonstrate acute attention to detail and ability to manage multiple complex projects
  • Demonstrate excellent briefing skills which will also involve an accurate interpretation of client requirements and developing creative insight
  • Self-starting and proactive; ability to work within a team based work structure and be able to work independently and pro-actively
  • Ability to deliver a confident agency pitch to current and prospective clients
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office; Keynote preferred
